The Floral Water Revolution in skincare
Dabba's six wild Northern mists that will change your skincare routine forever!
DABBA Floral Waters smell like forests, meadows and leaves warmed by the sun, because they are forests, meadows and leaves, distilled into water at peak season on DABBA’s own organic farm and distillery in Latvia.
No perfume. No shortcuts. No marketing fog. Just plants, water, time, and attention.
In this article, we’ll do three things:
• explain what floral waters really are (and why they’re not just “nice smelling water”)
• show why floral waters are sometimes smarter than essential oils
• introduce the six DABBA floral waters and how to use them in your daily ritual
Welcome to the softest skincare revolution.
What is a floral water (and why your skin loves it)
Floral waters (also called hydrosols or hydrolats) are created during steam distillation of plants. When aromatic plants are distilled, two things are born:
• the essential oil (oil-soluble, very concentrated)
• the floral water (water-soluble, gentle, aromatic)
The floral water contains hydrophilic plant compounds plus tiny traces of aromatic molecules. That means it carries the character of the plant, but in a way your skin can meet every day without being overwhelmed.
Science backs this softness: studies show hydrosols can contain antioxidant and antimicrobial plant compounds, while staying far gentler than essential oils.
Floral waters vs essential oils, same plant, different power
Think of it like this: Essential oils = espresso while Floral waters = herbal tea.
Same plant. Different intensity.
Why floral waters sometimes beat essential oils
Essential oils:
• ultra concentrated
• oil-based
• must be diluted
• powerful but risky for daily use
• long shelf life
Floral waters:
• naturally diluted by distillation
• water-based
• safe for direct skin use
• ideal for sensitive skin
• perfect for daily rituals
• shorter shelf life (because they’re alive)
Why DABBA floral waters are different
DABBA doesn’t buy generic hydrosols.
They built their own distillery in the middle of their own organic farm, so plants travel minutes, not hours, from field to still. That matters because the aroma stays true, the water-soluble actives stay intact, oxidation stays low and thereby quality stays high.
How to start your floral water routine?
Forget complicated routines. Start like this:
Morning or evening
-
Cleanse
-
Mist your floral water
-
Apply serum, cream or oil while skin is still moist
That’s it.
Bonus uses:
• after flights
• after sun
• during long workdays
• post-shave
• midday reset
• before meditation
• when your skin feels “off”
Pro tip:
Keep one floral water in your bag or at your desk. Your skin will start asking for it.

Logical way:
• oily skin → Birch

• tired skin → Heather or Raspberry
• dull mornings → Peppermint
DABBA way:
Close your eyes. Pick the one your skin wants today. When your skin state changes, your floral water can change with it.
Why misting first changes everything and why this is a revolution
Most skincare routines start with:
strip → scrub → stimulate
Floral waters start with:
hydrate → calm → prepare
They don’t attack the skin. They cooperate with it. From a skin science perspective, applying a serum or oil onto slightly damp skin improves how well it spreads and how comfortably it integrates into the skin barrier. Hydrated skin cells swell slightly, creating a more flexible surface layer. This allows active ingredients to distribute more evenly instead of sitting on dry patches or evaporating too quickly.
Floral waters also help bring the skin closer to its natural, slightly acidic pH range (around 4.5–5.5), which is the zone where:
• enzymes involved in barrier repair work best
• the microbiome feels most stable
• irritation risk is lower
In other words, floral water creates the ideal landing field for whatever you apply next. And there’s also a physical reason oils and serums feel better after misting.
Water and oil don’t mix, but water on the skin surface helps oils spread more thinly and uniformly, forming a softer, more breathable lipid layer instead of a heavy film. This improves:
• sensory feel
• perceived absorption
• hydration retention
So instead of forcing actives into dry skin, you’re guiding them into a skin environment that is already receptive. And when those waters come from organic plants, short harvest-to-distillation, minimal formulas and real, unmasked aromas.
Your first week with floral waters
Day 1–2:
Use after cleansing, before serum.
Day 3–4:
Add midday mist.
Day 5–6:
Choose different water for morning vs evening.
Day 7:
Wonder why your skin feels calmer.
That’s how habits are born.
DABBA Floral Waters are not designed to impress you once. They’re designed to accompany you daily.
