Satemwa Dark

Description

Satemwa Dark is a fermented dark tea from Satemwa Tea Estate in the Shire Highlands of southern Malawi. It is made using the shu pu'erh method: after oxidation, the leaves are fermented further, a slow transformation that softens the tea and gives it its deep, earthy character.

Satemwa combines this modern technique with its long tradition of craftsmanship and experimentation. The result is an African take on a classic dark tea.

The infusion is a deep mahogany brown, with aromas of damp forest, earth and wood. The taste is soft and rounded, with earthy, slightly spicy notes and a faint hint of liquorice. A grounding tea for cooler days, after a meal or whenever you want to slow down.

Brew 2 g per 200 ml at 95°C for 3 minutes, and re-use the leaves: at least three infusions are recommended, each with a slightly different character.
