Salon Session: How Do You Listen to Your Body? - 24 Nov.

Description

Everyone says, “Listen to your body.” But do we understand the language it speaks?

A tense neck, an unsettled stomach, the feeling of being constantly switched on. You notice it, but what do you do with it? Drawing on osteopathy, applied kinesiology and forty years of practice, Jan Berx shares his perspective on the connections between movement, tension, emotions and recovery. An evening to pause and pay attention to what you feel.

Jan shares how he looks at the body: how its different parts influence one another, how everyday demands and emotional tension feature in his approach, and why he asks about the story behind a symptom.

The conversation also explores applied kinesiology, an approach in which he uses techniques including manual muscle testing. Jan explains its place in his practice alongside osteopathy, conversation and collaboration with other healthcare professionals.

Our starting point is a question that concerns us all: how can you become more attentive to your own body? How do you notice what creates tension, what brings ease, and when you need rest or movement? And when is it sensible to seek help with what you are experiencing?

Meet Jan Berx, D.O.

Jan Berx is an osteopath D.O., lecturer and founder of Santhera in Diepenbeek. He qualified as a physiotherapist in 1985 and opened his practice a year later. In 2002, he earned his diploma in osteopathy. Since 2003, osteopathy and applied kinesiology have been central to his therapeutic approach.

His journey is also personal. Health challenges affecting his own children brought him and his wife Ann into contact with different healthcare professionals and approaches. That experience as a father deepened his curiosity and his attention to each family’s story.

His experience spans babies, children and adults, as well as recreational and elite athletes. He has worked with teams in international endurance racing, including the 24 Hours of Le Mans, and served as an osteopath with KRC Genk, including during their 2019 championship season.

As a lecturer, Jan shares his experience in areas including osteopathy for children and elite sport. What continues to drive him is the complexity of the human body and the connection with the people who walk into his practice.

The Salon by Farmatuur

We all see it happening. Functional purchases are moving online. Fast, efficient, frictionless. So why would anyone still come to a physical store?

For something the online world can never truly offer. Experience. Connection. A moment that genuinely moves you.

Farmatuur was built as exactly that kind of place. Not a traditional store, but a world where everything is designed to resonate. Where scent, music, materials and conversation come together. Where you do not simply buy something, but step into something.

At our conversation bar, no sales pitches emerge, but real exchanges. About health. About rituals. About small breakthroughs in everyday life.

At the heart of that experience lies The Salon. An intimate space inspired by the salons of the Enlightenment, where people once gathered to exchange ideas and perspectives. Today, we bring that spirit back in a contemporary way. We invite people who genuinely have something meaningful to share, and translate their knowledge into something accessible, human and inspiring.

The Salon does not feel like a lecture. It feels like someone sitting in your living room, finally making clear the things you have wanted to understand for a long time.
