Belly Blessing - Digestive Ease, Bloating & Heaviness
Description
A bitter-aromatic blend of six digestive herbs, with Cerato flower essence—a little care for belly, soul and soil.
Wunder Workshop’s Belly Blessing combines thyme, burdock, dandelion, fennel, artichoke and peppermint in a concentrated tincture. Rooted in European herbal traditions, it belongs in Happy Belly for its focus on digestive heaviness, fullness and wind.
Six Herbs, Complementary Roles
- Dandelion & artichoke: bitter herbs traditionally used to encourage digestion and ease post-meal fullness.
- Fennel & peppermint: aromatic companions traditionally valued for bloating, wind and digestive discomfort.
- Thyme & burdock: thyme contributes fragrant oils and a folk tradition of digestive use; burdock brings its longstanding association with digestion and elimination.
Together, the blend pairs digestive bitters with comforting aromatics, offering several complementary botanical approaches in one preparation.
Dandelion & Artichoke - The Bitter Foundation
Dandelion (Taraxacum officinale) has a longstanding place in European digestive preparations. Its bitter constituents contribute to the tradition of using the plant when appetite or digestion feels sluggish.
Artichoke (Cynara cardunculus var. scolymus) adds another distinctive bitter character. Artichoke leaf preparations contain caffeoylquinic acids and bitter sesquiterpene lactones, and are traditionally used for indigestion accompanied by fullness, bloating and wind. Artichoke’s traditional digestive uses
Fennel & Peppermint - Aromatic Digestive Comfort
Fennel (Foeniculum vulgare) is treasured for its sweet, anise-like aroma. Its aromatic fruits contain compounds including anethole and fenchone, and have long been used as carminatives—herbs associated with easing wind and bloating.
Peppermint (Mentha piperita) brings a cooling fragrance, with menthol and menthone among its characteristic volatile constituents. Peppermint leaf has a traditional role in preparations for indigestion and flatulence, making it a natural aromatic companion to the bitter herbs. Peppermint’s traditional uses
Thyme & Burdock - Kitchen Garden Meets Hedgerow
Thyme (Thymus vulgaris) contributes aromatic compounds such as thymol and carvacrol. Its familiar culinary fragrance reflects its place in both food and folk-herbal preparations, including traditional use for digestive wind.
Burdock (Arctium lappa) brings a broader European herbal heritage associated with digestion and elimination. It adds another botanical character to the blend’s combination of cultivated herbs and familiar countryside plants.
Cerato - A Ritual of Trusting Yourself
In the Bach flower-essence tradition, Cerato is associated with trusting your own judgement, particularly when you repeatedly seek reassurance from others.
Thoughtfully Grown & Extracted
The herbs come from one British organic farm, grown biodynamically in tune with lunar rhythms. A 1:2 herb-to-liquid ratio and water-and-alcohol extraction capture a range of bitter and aromatic constituents.
